Overview
This project is an immersive experience designed to help women redefine their understanding of beauty and build self-confidence. It uses a combination of VR, interactive installations, and reflective activities to guide participants through memories and self-exploration, encouraging them to question societal beauty standards and discover their own. The journey is extended through a companion app that provides continuous support, offering resources like guided reflections, articles, and meditative exercises to reinforce a personal, positive aesthetic journey.

Problem

- Collective beauty standards
Social media and cultural norms amplify narrow beauty ideals, pressuring women to conform to collective aesthetic standards. This creates anxiety, low self-esteem, and body dissatisfaction, as individuals struggle with unrealistic comparisons and societal expectations based on appearance.

User experience Insights
Societal expectations shape women’s self-perception, highlighting challenges in self-cognitive and emotional well-being while emphasizing the need for a wellness-focused approach.

Solution

How can we create an exhibition that challenges societal beauty norms, guiding women to explore and redefine beauty in a way that resonates personally?
Ideation
VR experience

The exhibition is divided into three parts: a park experience where users explore deep personal memories, a video on female growth that prompts reflection on beauty, and an interactive session with a robot that mirrors the user’s appearance to discuss and redefine their perception of true beauty.

Execution

Final Selection
In this area, users will wait and put on a VR headset. The VR experience features a little girl guiding them through a dream-like journey, asking about their perception of beauty. The girl then provides feedback, emphasizing that true beauty is natural and genuine, bringing happiness.
When the user approaches the interactive machine, a virtual girl prompts them to remove the VR headset. The user then watches a video about the journey of a girl growing up and reflecting on the pursuit of beauty. To inspire deeper thought, the machine provides paper and a pen, inviting the user to write down their feelings
Participants enter a space with an interactive video machine, which plays a one-minute video about beauty on a continuous loop. Once the video ends, the machine provides paper and a pen. The screen then guides users to write down their thoughts and feelings, encouraging independent reflection. After writing, they can press the ‘Open’ button to proceed to the next room.”

Participants are guided to a spot where a holographic version of themselves appears, embodying confidence and beauty. The hologram asks reflective questions, helping them reshape their perceptions and embrace their true selves.
